My Plex player for android doesn’t list my smart tv when I go to casting. It only shows Plex web

I assume your Sharp TV doesn’t have a “real” Plex client but only a generic DLNA-compatbile player app.
Casting is only possible to real Plex clients.

Yes you are correct. It sees the Plex web server but it won’t show subtitles. My mobile Plex player sees the Chromecast so I play through there. Chromecast is better that the TV’s software
