I have latest update of Plex media server on my raspberry, i have latest Android plex app but i can’t find my Samsung tv to cast to (android built in). I see mt Chromecast on my second floor but not in the livingroom (where samsung tv is located).
My friend who also have Samsung tv can’t find it to cast to via plex app…
I have tried for ex YouTube, and that find the tv without issue, but I’m having hard to locate my tv via the app…
Please do someone know what is wrong or if there is something (setting wise) that i have to enable?!..
If it had “Chromecast Built in” it would behave like any other Chromecast. but Google Assistant isn’t the same thing. Device manufactures do often make special cases so huge companies apps like Youtube, Netflix work without fuss, because they are draws for the average person to buy that tv.
If you have the Plex app open on the TV and you have a server on the local Network it should show up as a Companion app to control app from phone (our own protocol described in last article linked). The icon will have a Plex logo on it. Unfortunately it cannot open the app .
Will try this when possible, i so think I saw this somewhere and i could not find the extra device in my list so my first thought was that there is an issue with plex itself.
But I’ll try this really soon (trying to get my kids to sleep) and see if this works.
Yes i could find the tv but sad it’s not good as Cast… But ye that would be a solution to pause or things like that. Thanks for pointing this out for me.
