Plex player lagging when scan is happening on another computer

When Plex server is doing a scan on server S, the plex players on computer P is lagging, even when NOT accessing files from server S.

To reproduce,

  • have 2 computers, one with plex server and the other with plex player.
  • Connect plex player to plex server.
  • attempt to access content not from the plex server (eg: plex live tv, plex web shows, plex news…)
  • Plex player GUI will be extremely laggy.

I guess this is tagged wrong. Should be “player-windows” instand of “plex-media-player”
