Plex (player?) missing from list of apps in Asustor Portal

Hi!

My goal is to play my library on the TV from NAS connected to the TV via HDMI and using Asustor Portal view. (I would love to switch to Apple TV, but I can’t enforce plex on apple tv to use hdmi connection)

I have Asustor 5202T. The Plex app is not available in Asustor Portal after I’ve installed the server on Nas. I have library set up and ready to go but the only way I can access the library is via chrome in the asustor portal. I see on youtube videos and other tutorials people have ACTUAL APP in the portal view (the one with big tiles, apple tv style).
Then I kinda realized, that app is not a server but a player so I tried downloading from asustor the “plex media player” app and installing it manually on NAS. It is not available via asustor app center for some reason.
There’s an error (ref. 6210) and it’s not installed in the end. Is my NAS not supported by the player?
How should I proceed?
The whole idea was to connect nas to tv with hdmi and watch 4k content directly from nas and not to be limited by network.

Please explain. Isn’t HDMI the only possible connection between an AppleTV and a TV screen?

Sorry, what I meant is Apple TV has Plex app installed.

The way I set it up is:

Tv with 4 hdmi ports
Hdmi 1 - Apple TV with Plex app
Hdmi 2 - Xbox
Hdmi 3 - ps4
Hdmi 4 - NAS with Plex server

Apple TV connected to tv with hdmi #1.
In this case Plex app connects to NAS library via network, not via hdmi.

Plex app that is on NAS, connected to same tv with hdmi #4. And uses hdmi connection to access movies from the library ( not network connection). The way I was planning to use it is with Plex media player installed in nas portal.

But I’m having issues with installing Plex media player for some reason directly on NAS
The reason I’m so hung up on using hdmi is because I want to play 4K content directly from NAS.

Does that make sense?

Apparently, there is no Plex client for your Nas model. So your only option is the Apple TV. It will play your file without transcoding, if the format is right.
So it doesn’t really matter if the data have to travel over Ethernet first.

I suspected so, hopefully the new media player with support for my NAS will be released soon.

Does that mean I can unplug now NAS from the TV and just use apple tv for streaming over network?
You said “right format”, what exactly that is? Most of my files are mkv, with exception to m4v.

I guess I’ll just get plex pass for hardware transcoding and start streaming 4k content.

Yes, this is pretty much the default mode of operation with Plex.
Server and client on separate devices.

Sorry, I don’t think there will ever be a client app for a Nas device.

4k is still a challenge.
