Plex player on 1st Gen fire tv w) remote not playing back video properly since last update of Plex

Server Version#:4.136.1
Player Version#:9.21.2.1271
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

My plex player has worked flawlessly for years. After the last player update, I get a green bar on the top left if my screen and the video is broken up into diagonal sections. How do I fix it?

No one has a clue what my issue is? Please help. thanks.

Not sure how much help I can be.

This is a Fire TV and not a Fire Tv Stick?
Does this affect just this file or any video you play?
What type of file? .mp4? .mkv? .avi?
When you click on the file info to see the metadata, what does it say for video? The resolution and encoding method.
What was the source for this movie? Download? DVD rip?
Have you tried the age tried and true method of disconnecting power and restoring power?
Checked for loose HDMI cables?

Maybe the answers to those questions will trigger some ideas.

Hi, This is on an old rectangular fire TV, These are mostly MKV files that used to play no problem. 1080P. These are all downloaded.
X264, X265. I don’t know what changed but it’s every thing I try to play. This issue began with the latest Plex update.

I tried googling for fire tv and the player version number but not much came up. I am not sure if/how you could do it but if you could revert to a previous version. I guess it would be same process for downloading and reverting on a fire stick.

I have no idea how to revert to a previous version. The Plex app doesn’t even have a check for updates tab or anything.

Perhaps this will resolve with the next update?

it would be nice if the Plex folks had actual customer support.

Hopefully it will resolve itself in the next update.

If you don’t want to wait and feel adventurous, the process should be identical to this:

So, I could not get the files to play correctly on my ole skool Fire TV. I bit the bullet and bought an Nvidia Sheild Pro. Now Plex works. Yaay!
