Previous threads have reported this issue, however they have not been fully addressed.
Every time i open Plex as shown in the above threads, it does not open centered, i have to go into the plex.ini file to delete the UI section as is noted in the above threads. But this doesnt fix the issue, the next time i open Plex the same issue is there, so now every time i want to watch Plex i need to delete that section of text every time…
I have tried changing the scaling so all my screens sit at 100% in the windows UI, that hasnt fixed the issue either.
Do you/did you use any helper tools, which aim to arrange app windows on your screen(s)? (like, e.g. “Fancy Zones” or “Crop and Lock” in the Windows PowerToys or similar tools)
This is the only idea that comes to my mind, as I don’t experience this kind of issue on Windows.
Have you ever changed default settings in the nVidia control panel (in the “3D settings” section)? Maybe intended to improve running some other app?
Try reverting everything to default.
(It might be beneficial to create an app preference for Plex player in there, which forces the “high performance” profile. But that has nothing to do with this thread’s issue.)
No i have not changed any settings there. The only setting that has changed is the sizing of the TV, as its not true 1080, i use the nvidia control panel to change it to 1824x1026. This issue however only has appeared since i reformatted the PC, and previous to reformatting the PC had this same set up
Try to fix that issue by disabling “Overscan” in the settings of the TV. It’s the better way, because it avoids 2 subsequent slight resize operations on the picture. Unfortunately it might not be called “Overscan” in the settings menu of your TV. TV manufacturers love to rename common features in order to make them appear unique to their brand.
I have looked for this setting but cant seem to find anything about it. Seems to be a common thing as googling it shows lots of complaints about the TV and this issue. However this TV was used for over a year in this setup prior to reformatting without issue. What else can i do to fix this problem?
I for one am out of ideas now.
Apparently it may be caused by the weird pixel dimensions of that screen, which are created by the nVidia control panel.
If Plex HTPC is behaving the same way, I’m afraid there is not much you can do.
Maybe try Kodi with the P4MK plugin, but that is not a full-featured Plex client.
Any idea why it had no issues with this setup until i reformatted? What is it about a fresh install that caused this issue to arise? The setup used a different TV before moving to this current one, could that have saved some setting somewhere that stopped this issue occurring? Is there no fix that Plex can implement to stop this occurring?
I changed all displays to have the same scaling, first swapping the TV to match the PC screens at 125%, reset plex, issue persisted. Then i swapped all to 100%, reset setttings and the issue was still present.
