Hi!
First of all, sorry, I’m not a very big computer person, just normal user.
After years of using Plex, today the player on my PC went full screen outside my screen (never had a secondary monitor added). I checked all solutions in the forum, but for the life of me can’t find the PlexMediaPlayer folder anywhere.

Thanks for your help

That’s because you are not using “Plex Media Player” anymore.
It’s just “Plex” in this case.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Plex

Instead of deleting the whole plex.ini file, open it with notepad.exe, then remove just the section which is headed with [ui].

Thank you!! I had been trying for two hours and only found outdated info, this fixed it. Thanks a lot!!!

Thank you! I had searched and searched and finally found this post, which was the answer I needed. I had uninstalled and then reinstalled Plex Desktop for Windows but the problem persisted.
For anyone who isn’t clear what the issue is I have attached a screenshot which shows the entire window.

Did this fix your issue? I have this exact problem currently and it keeps reoccuring, it will generally occur once i move from once screen to another. I dont want to have to keep editing the ini file every time i open plex… I have never had this issue until i reformatted my PC a few days ago and its been present ever since

This MOSTLY solved my problem. It does reoccur once in a while and then I have to do it again. I think the problem occurs when you have a different Scale settings for your monitors (in Windows Settings>System>Display), and then you move the Plex window from one monitor to another followed by changing the Scale settings and closing Plex.

So i do have a different scale between my desktop screens (4k @ 125%) and the TV (1080@100%) but funnily enough i never had this issue occur before, only since i reformatted last week :frowning: Did you find having them set to the same scaling removed the issue? I have the issue occurring just moving between the screens, and i have even had the issue occur where it worked all day, then when i reopened plex later on that night, without having changed the screen it was on, it opened full screen not centered, so there was no way for me to even log in…

Hey Otto, as noted above, everytime i close and reopen plex i have the issue that is shown in the screenshot by SmithPlex, is there any other info? needing to delete the UI section every time i open plex isnt really a fix to the issue.

I don’t use Plex on Windows often enough to say that making the scaling 100% for all monitors made the problem go away, but I suspect that it will. What I’d suggest is you open plex.ini in Notepad++ where you can see it on one monitor and then as you open/close plex, and/or change the scale settings and/or move plex between windows, you can see how the ui section changes, and be able to determine when the issue happens for you.

I’ve tried setting the scaling the same, i somehow still get the issue, and i’ve dont my best to compare the UI potion of the .ini but the changes to values doesnt mean enough to me for me to be able to point my finger at the issue :frowning:

this happens if plex is running on a second screen and that screen is removed too, why is plex being displayed outside the viewable screen on start? i would have thought this would be easy to check for?!?
