Plex player stopped working

I’ve suddenly got a problem with my plex player on Windows 10. Nothing hs changed but now whenever I try to play a video it just sits there spinning away. If I look on the server it shows the client connecting and plying the video file but nothing loads up on the client.

I’ve tried reinstalling both the server and the client. I’ve tried the android client with the same videos and it works fine.

Anyone any ideas?

Same here it works through a browser just fine but my Windows 10 desktopplayer just keeps cycling on the background picture.

Try full reinstall on desktop app… Same versions on both server and player functioning fine here.

Did you do the latest update?

Nope didn’t work still spinning and the download has yesterdays date so it must be in the latest update.

I recently and always update both my server and player.

What was the previous PMP version so I can find and reinstall that?

I am having this same problem and can’t find any answers. This is affecting three different Windows 10 1909 machines all running Plex Media Player 1.8.2.1192. The browser works fine for all of them, and so does the Android player. I have reinstalled Plex on all three machines and even Windows itself on one and the problem persists.

How do I find the answer to this problem? My Plex Win10 App doesn’t start anymore. I did the uninstall and reinstalled the latest Plex player app and I have the same problem. Task Manager says it is running, but it never appears. The browser version works, but doesn’t have the performance that the app had. I have another PC that has the PLEX win10 app and it works. What broke?

Same issue here.

I have the same problem, and although I haven’t dug deeper into it, it seems to only happen with AVI files (meaning I have not checked what they actually contain). Works fine with newer matroska/MP4 files.

After a couple of more days of searching, I found nothing about my Win10 App not appearing. Last night I figured out my problem. Task Manager says the Win10 Plex app was running but it never displayed. It turns out that it must of been minimized or located off the display or so small that I couldn’t find it. My solution was to start the PLEX app, then I hovered my curser over the icon located on the bottom task bar. When the little popup showed, I moved the curser over the popup and right clicked on it. That gave me the choice to maximize the App. I hope this helps.
