Plex Player - "Your connection to the server is not fast enough to stream this video."

I know this has been posted before, but for all of those saying they are switching to Emby, you can downgrade to 6.12 and the problem is not there. I know this is not a solution, but it will hopefully be temporary.

The networking stack has been improved in the player side of things in the 7.15 beta, it might not improve or fix anything for you if your encountering a different issue with the same error message. We are still investigating this and trying to find the cause.

The 6.12 version of Plex client does not fix streaming from a Windows box to the nVidia Shield TV client.

Can I use Emby as the frontend client on my nVidia Shield TV with the Plex Server in the backend on a Windows box?

Hey SIXONES,

Thanks for the response.

Does the latest beta fix this issue outlined by nVidia here “https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1091469/shield-tv/shield-plex-playback-issues-on-7-2/post/6015544/#6015544

???

Yes that is the fix and I can confirm it works. But the test image breaks some other things on the shield

Emby is also broken without this fix. It’s a shield firmware issue. Only other fix is to roll back the software.

Can someone please send me a link for the 7.15 beta for Android as I think the latest that I tried was 7.14 thinking it was the 7.15

@SCAN2_NYC, all of the releases are available in the release thread:

Thanks

7.15 beta seems to be working without the error message on my Airtv and firestick to bad I had to watch “the silence” to test it. Only didn’t check my Mi box s cause it’s connected to my projector. But right now I’m happy. Will reply if I’m premature. 5/6 the 7.15 BETA still working on firestick, and android Airtv player with android 7. Why do i have a feeling that the next release with screw this up.

I am sorry to say that on my nVidia Shield TV with pre-installed Plex, the error still exists.

I am playing back a DTS 5.1 MKV file from a Plex Windows server hardwired to the same network.

From my Plex Media Server - you can see the speed drop from Mbps to Kbps over 10 minutes every time I playback a ‘heavy’ MKV file.

View graphs are here.

Unfortunately even with the 7.15 beta I still can’t play anything for more than a minute or so without the dreaded ‘connection to server isn’t fast enough’, the same files work perfectly through the Samsung TV client.

I’ve just noticed this error. 4k files play fine on all other devices and find when I first got my 4k Sony TV and now I constantly get this error on some media. TV is Android and hardwired.

Is there anything I can do to help?

I cannot watch any 4k content anymore.

I rolled my version of the plex client back to 6.12 and its worked fine for the past 2 days

Ever since they moved ExoPlayer versions Playback has been a disaster. This is not the only production issue that is affecting people.

I believe all new features should be frozen until these production issues are resolved. This should be the only priority.

Hello all,

Ok, so I can confirm that locally I am getting the same error. “Your connection to the server is not fast enough to stream this video”. My setup is as follows:

  • Plex server located on Intel Nuc, connected via ethernet
  • 4 different versions of Roku (streaming stick, Roku 3, Roku streaming stick+ and roku TV.)
  • Hard wired connections on two of the roku’s.

I had never previously had this issue. This is pretty recent. Within the last couple weeks. I have logs if needed, but the server side seems to be performing ok, resources on the server seem fine. This is seeming more like a roku-side or client-software side problem. Our connection throughout the home is very fast, and even our internet is gigabit up and down. So, I am concerned this may be the Roku Plex Player app? Hoping for any recommendations. Will submit anything that may help.

Hi, I initially got the same error, “Your connection to the server is not fast enough…”. For me, turns out the network cables that came with my NAS (synology) was the issue. Replaced the cables and that seems to work.

They just released 7.15.xx on the nVidia Shield TV and it still has not fixed the issue on playback from my Windows 10 Plex Media Server to nVidia SATV through the internal network.

I just updated to 7.15…0.10215 and I still have the issue.

How the hell has Plex not fixed this. It’s a disgrace.

Not one movie works on Fire TV Stick 4k.
Crashes back to plex start screen.
Uninstalled waiting for a fix…
