Plex Player - "Your connection to the server is not fast enough to stream this video."

Crossover as in crossover CAT5/6 cable? Is your switch that old that it can’t do auto-mdix in such a way that you only use straight cables for everything? Just curious.

The switch I had was 100 Mbps I thought it might have been slowing down the connection so I purchased a gigabit switch. I see now that wasn’t the problem. Do you think I should return it? I use to have 50/50 but was upgraded to 100/100. Also rolling back to the older Plex version fixed the connection is too slow error on my Android Airtv players and firestick. EDIT also had to roll back on my Mi box s which is used less. Emby is looking better and better. I started with emby but might have to return next month when my Plex year is up. Guess I’ll just keep checking this tread hopefully one day it will be fixed. EDIT2 I can’t even use the old Plex version on my Mi box s because I was using the beta 7.14 which gets rid of the Plex transcodes everything when you connect a USB Ethernet adapter. So it’s either have everything transcoded down to below SD or get the fake error message throughout all my movies, this is such a cluster f.

Same problem here since almost a year now.
Happens on my Shield and my MiBox.

This is so sad. Had transcoded my hole library to mp4 cause some time ago there was another issue with mkv content. Now I do the extra mile to convert everything to streamable mp4’s and we experience this issue every day on nearly every playback.

Come on Plex guys… Could you please rerelease a lagacy Plex version with exoPlayer v1?

I would try it and may switch if the issue is really not happening there.

Does Plex have an update on when a fix will be released?

We now know its a Plex bug and Nvidia have helped you find it and reproduce it.

Here is an update from the devs…

We have fixed two issues in this area, with another server issue still being investigated (where the server slows down the transfer). The client fixes are in alpha at the moment, and introduce a HTTP cache infront of ffmpeg to let us sequentially read from the source rather than jump back and forth when dealing with files that aren’t perfectly muxed.

I am seeing if they have an update in regards to potential release timelines.

This issue is tired. It gets so frustrating to explain to people watching my tv why this happens locally. At least change the message to something that accurately represents the problem- ‘The plex team isn’t powerful enough to address this old, reoccurring issue’.

please do, this is getting really frustrating, i am getting a lot of emails about how fantastic Plex is when using with Tidal, but I rather have u fix these nasty bugs first instead of releasing more functionality, having this problem already for more then 5 months now…come on

Anyone try the latest beta? In the play store 7.15 says something about a network cache, which I am assuming is the proposed fix mentioned. I plan on trying it once I get home from work.

I did not see anything in the release post about the cache on either 7.15 release, so I’m not optimistic.

Such an odd random issue… its 10000% not my server or network…

I don’t get why it’s so random though…2 days ago watched 2 movies , first 1 fine… 2nd one did it once.
Yesterday watched a few shows… not problem
Today, 1 4k movie fine… 1 show… right now 20 mins in, it has happened twice.

It’s available in 7.15 for TV devices, but not for mobile at the moment as mobile has a brand new player experience.

I see. Unfortunately it did not fix the problem on my Android TV device or Fire TV device. However, I may have not downloaded the correct one for my Fire TV device.

Would you be able to grab some logs?

I downgraded the Fire TV Stick 4K to 6.12 which does seem to fix the problem.

The Android TV I have not downgraded and will attempt to get some logs, but it will not be until this evening.

Perfect, thanks! If you could verify you are on 7.15 on that device as well.

I have verified the version is 7.15.

Also having this same issue on 2 X shields hard wired over 1Gbps network transfer rates from the server to the Shield are Download 925.45 Mbps Upload 1002.50 Mbps complete Joke this has been going on for such a long time. My plex pass is up in 1 month if its not fixed i think i will try Emby

I’ve had good luck with the latest test image from Nvidia, seems to have fixed the issue for me, so as soon as that hits general release, I’m hoping a lot of people will see this resolved. Search the GeForce forums for this issue. I’ve heard Plex has been working on this on their side as well

How do I get hold of this test image? I purchased two shields for the primary use of plex the only other use is ITV player that is also broken and cannot update in the store. Feel the nvidia shields where a total waste of money considering they are one of the most expensive android boxes. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’m not an apple fan boy but starting to see the whole “it just works” theory and getting tempted to go down the apple route. I have just been casting to the shield from my old iPhone the last few months because it just works :frowning:

SIXONES,

What exact build is this bug fix in?

For Example is it in build " 7.15.0.10127-beta"

7.15 Didnt help on my firestick or Android Airtv Boxes still getting the error message. loaded emby and testing it, till this is resolved.
