Plex Playlist item Count

I have been adding to and sorting my music media. In doing so I have been creating many playlists of varying countdowns, top 10’s, top 100’s etc.

I have noticed that if media is removed, renamed etc. in my file system, the media is sometimes removed from the playlist. This I can manage.

In these instances, it is noticed that the ‘item count’ on the created playlists does not ‘update’ until you open them up to allow plex to ‘refresh’ the item count.

If I load 100 songs to a playlist, and some are renamed or moved on my file system, I will scan and reimport those tracks. Plex will still report the playlist item count as 100 until I open up the playlist in PMS and allow plex to ‘refresh’ the item count, reducing it to the correct number of items in the playlist.

This becomes a pain point in being able to easily identify if some of the created playlist are affected, and to therefore reinstate missing tracks to created playlists.

I have tried to analyze library, empty trash etc., but it does not affect the playlist item counts.

Is this a bug to be reviewed?
Not sure if it is unique to my synology setup.

Reviewing further, I’ve also noticed the ‘item count’ does not update on smart playlists either. So not limited to manually created playlists.

e.g. the item count of a smart playlist based upon highly rated tracks will not update until you open it in PMS and ‘refresh’.
