Plex Premium Music: How to fix problematic metadata?

Hello All!

My current specific problem is with the Electric Light Orchestra’s box set called Afterglow. Its a three disc box set with each disc named ‘E’, ‘L’, & ‘O’ respectively. Plex is putting discs 1 & 3 (E & O) under one album called Afterglow as Disc 1 and Disc 3 which is super. Unfortunately Plex is putting disc L as its own standalone album Afterglow: L. I have checked the metadata on the physical files and they are all labeled as Afterglow for the album and each has its own disc number. I have tried ‘Fix Incorrect Match’ but only the errant match shows up.

Any ideas on how to fix this so my L album shows up as Disc 2 in the single Afterglow album?

Also, if questions like this are better elsewhere, just let me know where.

Thanks.

Plex doesn’t support ‘box sets’ or names for individual discs in a multi-disc album.

All you can do is to put the box either as a multi-disc album
or if it consists of individual albums which are just bundled together, then pull the box apart and add the albums indvidually.

Your answer helps.

I totally missed the big EDIT button for the album.

Once I manually changed the album from ‘Afterglow: L’ to just ‘Afterglow’ plex arranged it in the single Afterglow album and now all three discs show up under that album. The metadata from the 3rd party provider must be askew.

Yes, this is one to always keep in mind: the AlbumTitle metadatum must be exactly the same for all discs of a multidisc album. The disc number (or name in this case) does not belong in there. (there is a separate metadatum for the disc number).
