Plex pulling Hungarian title instead of English for Queen- Hungarian Rhapsody movie

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151 on a Mid 2011 iMac running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6
Player Version#: Plex for Mac 1.54.2.3267-d35cd36f on a 2017 iMac running macOS Monterey 12.6

So I just added the Queen Hungarian Rhapsody Live in Budapest movie to my Plex server and Plex’s Metadata seems to be pulling the Hungarian Title instead of the English Title.

Here’s how the file is named:

Queen- Hungarian Rhapsody - Live in Budapest (2012) {tmdb-142773}.mkv

Here’s how it shows up in the Plex for Mac client:

Here’s how it shows up in the watch.plex.tv metadata:

Here’s how it shows up in the TMDB:

Here’s the Alternate Titles from the TMDB:

And finally how that library is setup:

Plex is getting that info from imdb Varázslat - A Queen Budapesten (1987) - IMDb.

Not sure how easy it is to update on their site but can take a look later when I’m back at my pc.

Interesting. How did you determine that? I was under the impression that Plex’s main source was theMovieDB and it ‘filled in’ from other sources.

Thanks for the help!

Chris

Yes, TMDB is the main source but it’s really a consolidation from many sources. There is no one source anymore.

Furthermore, Plex has also never published what algorithm they use to rate specific pieces of metadata from one source over another.

Its somewhat guess work from our side but when I go to that movie on imdb I see it’s translated in the english title like in plex so the problem is there.

Created a request on imdb to add the USA title for the movie. First time I’ve ever done an edit on imdb (I’m more of a TMDB person myself) so hope it was done correctly. I’ll check back in 24/48 hours to see if its been accepted or not.

Thanks!

Chris

Edit has been approved and I see english translation at → Varázslat - A Queen Budapesten (1987) - IMDb.

Give it the usual 24-72 hours for this change to creep its way from imdb into the plex back-end metadata.

Thanks again for the help! Have a good weekend.
