Plex puts picture from another show on episodes

I’ve manually added episodes of “The Great British Bake Off”.

The TVDB seems to have worked fine for 3 of the 5 seasons I added, but two have problems. One season (shown) as 3 episodes (5, 6, and 8) from NCIS New Orleans as the picture on the episodes, and the other has 3 from “Blue Bloods”. I do have both on my Plex system, but I’ve let the system do all the pictures automatically. Any ideas what could cause this problem?

Looks like embedded metadata showing in your episode names (data from TheTVDb.com won’t show as “s03e01 Cake”). If this is recorded items… could it be this is frames/thumbs from the beginning of the recording – before the actual show started?

Interesting about the metadata source, but these were downloaded as single episodes off the web and I assume wouldn’t have any stray frames at the beginning. Both erroneous thumbnail shows are CBS.

the episode names also don’t seem to match the official sequence from TheTVDb

Episode TheTVDb.com The Movie Database Your Episode Name
S03E01 Cakes Cakes Cake
S03E02 Bread Breads Biscuits
S03E03 Tarts Tartes Bread
S03E04 Desserts Desserts Desserts
S03E05 Pies Pies Alternative Ingredients
S03E06 Puddings Puddings Pastry
S03E07 Sweet Dough Sweet Dough Victorian
S03E08 Biscuits Biscuits Patisserie
S03E09 Patisserie Patisserie Chocolate
S03E10 The Final The Final Final

Both sources use a single picture for as thumb for all episodes of that season.
Leads me to a suspicion… could you share how you organized the folders of your tv show library and how you named those episodes?

Continuing the discussion from Plex puts picture from another show on episodes:

I’ve solved the problem, not explained it. Thanks to your having me look at the folder structure I saw that my main folder was The Great British Bake Off (The British TV Title that they changed to not conflict with the Pillsbury Bake Off!). I corrected the main folder to match the filenames.

To make matters more confusing there are three different season conventions. BBC has one, PBS a second, and Netflix a third. The seasons don’t match between them except by accident. I decided to follow the BBC original flow of the series, so if you note my title says Season 06 (From the folder name) but the episodes apparently take it from the file metadata as the the filename has been changed to Season 6.

It isn’t worth anyone’s time to pursue further as there are so many discrepancies in my system, but at least the thumbnails have been corrected! Thanks for your time.

While I am in communication with you I have a major problem on the system. On another Mac when I attempted to login and reply I kept getting the error Forum User Not Found

I’m on a different machine now where apparently I had stayed logged in, and I know this is off topic, but didn’t trust anything about being able to post a new message. Is there any way to contact support if I can’t login to the forum??
