Incorrect TV matches

Server Version#: Version 1.18.3.2129/Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS

Newly added shows today are matching incorrectly. Episode name/description are incorrect along with the image thumbnail missing. The entries are showing correctly on TheTVDB, but that metadata is not being pulled correctly into Plex.

See, Servant, The Mandalorian and The Morning Show are all experiencing this issue.

I have done the Plex dance with the episodes, cleared the plug-in cache, manually selected the TV series ID in the search.

Anyone else experiencing this?

What are the file names (exactly) ?
is there embedded metadata (title/name) which could lead to incorrect match?

The episodes are being correctly identified so far as season/episode so doesn’t seem like a naming/matching issue. No embedded metadata on them either. Switching agent to the MovieDB will correctly identify the newest Morning Show episode but not the others. Almost seems like the incorrect names/descriptions are being retrieved by Plex before it even hits API to the selected agent.

PMS version? If you’re running anything before 1.18.2, you’ll likely be subject to the problems with their new API v3.

We found a few ways to make it better with API v3 but TheTVDB is supposed to be 100% backward compatible.

Version 1.18.3.2129

I will need to see the DEBUG logs (ZIP - with VERBOSE OFF), gathered right after you attempt to scan.

I would prefer, if possible, for you to fully dance the content (move out, scan files, empty trash, clean bundles, move back) so PMS sees it as an entirely new addition.

Attached as requested. Mandalorian is matching correctly now, other three still incorrect names/descriptions/episode thumbnails. Could definitely be a TVDB issue still it appears. I see a lot of tvdb2.plex.tv in the logs, is Plex handles the calls directly to TVDB now?

Thanks for the logs.

There are no errors in the logs.
“Extra XML” is the only ‘common error’ to find.
All the agents have it to form the common API but not all use it.

This very much looks like a mismatch at TheTVDB.
I would investigate there

The strange thing is that the entries are correct at TheTVDB. I don’t understand where the incorrect data is coming from. For example with Servant, here is what pulls into Plex vs what is on TheTVDB. The episode title of “Cricket” is listed no where on TheTVDB (future or past episodes). No episode description and no thumbnail and incorrect runtime in Plex, yet all present on the TheTVDB page.

How is Plex pulling from TVDB, what is tvdb2.plex.tv?

We receive a full DB dump from them.
What you’re showing me implies a problem.
I am going to look into that now.

Thanks Chuck - let me know if you need more examples

Show me your names, exactly as you have them, inclusive of structure.
I will replicate

Can you enable to receive PM’s from me?

Check DM.

For those reading here. We ruled out Plex. There’s a frontend/backend difference at TheTVDB. An example of what we found will look like this if you encounter it.

wow! i was struggling galore with this and Servant :(… why can’t plex adjust this or detect or fix this automagically  , whey do we have to follow a non-conventional method ? i mean once i renamed episodes as shown in ChuckPA’s screenshot bam plex picked them up. kinda of a bother to do that just saying , when ALL other tv series i have follow the normal Plex format of “show_name - S0xE0x”

Each episode is matched individually.
My examples show all the required information: “Name” & “SxxExx” .

Were I to put:

/tv-pilots/
Star Trek The Next Generation - S01E01 - Encounter at Farpoint.mkv
  Enterprise - S01E01 - Broken Bow.mkv
  ..
  ..

PMS would see 2 series, each with one episode. This is how it’s intended to work.
