I watch a lot of Kamen Rider and after adding the latest episode of the show i went to refresh my library to update and add the episode. It literally removed the entire series that i was attempting to update and even after removing it and adding it back it refuses to load it in whatsoever.
This is so weird, if i add it to a different folder it reads it right away. To continue the madness, the Kamen Rider folder is now randomly renaming the folders on its own, what is happening?
According to TVDB : http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=74096
and the current documentation for Plex File Naming and Structuring for TV Shows:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows
The file names and structures should appear exactly as follows:
A TV Show Library/
…Kamen Rider/
…Season 01/
…Kamen Rider - S01E01 - Episode Name Optional.xxx
…Kamen Rider - S01E02 - The Terrifying Bat Man.xxx
If your name and structure is EXACTLY like the above please provide evidence (screenshot or log excerpt). Research is currently underway about issues with naming within Plex and how Plex interacts with TVDB. Your use case could be of some benefit.
If your naming and structuring is NOT EXACTLY like the above please make the necessary changes and Plex Dance® the entire series beforehand:
The Plex Dance®:
- remove entire show from TV Show Library
- update library
- clean bundles
- empty trash
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions <---- update libraries, clean bundles, empty trash
- repair names and structure
- replace show into library
- update library
You MUST perform The Plex Dance® EXACTLY as written or Plex will continue to use the bad bundle you have aboard now.
Also note: TV Shows and Movies can NOT go in the same Library Type.
Okay so i did what you said, cleaned it all up properly once it got to Kamen Rider Kiva and Kamen Rider Ex-Aid it simply wouldn’t load them into the place i had set for Kamen Rider Series only. BUT if i stick it in the TV shows folder, it works just fine.
This will take some labor on your part. First Go Here:
http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=74096 - Regular Seasons
http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=74096&seasonid=21558&lid=7 - Specials Season
Pour through these listings for Regular Seasons and Special Seasons, locate your items, name them according to their listings at TVDB and repeat the Dance Steps above. Likely examples:
A TV Show Library/
…Kamen Rider/
…Season 00/ <---- Specials Season
…Kamen Rider - S00E54 - Kamen Rider Kiva: King of the Castle in the Demon World.xxx
…Kamen Rider - S00E155 - Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Virtual Operations Ex-Aid Chapter.xxx
and so on.
FileBot (link in my signature) could help, but it really depends on your file naming to begin with.
It’s also very likely ‘YOUR’ idea of how these should be named and structured in no way resembles the naming and structuring required by Plex and TVDB. Refer to the Plex naming guide link provided for the proper method:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows
Find your items and name/structure them accordingly.
After a lot of work i think i’ve finally gotten it to read all of the episodes, thanks so much for all your help!
That’s great and you’ll be glad you did the work.
Now that they match they get all the air dates. When you’re watching from On Deck the Specials will play in the queue right where they should.
