Plex Relay works - so why does PMS still claim to be "not accessible outside your network"

Server Version#: 1.16.3.1402

My PMS is behind CGNAT, so Plex can only be accessed through Plex Relay - which works like a charm.

But then why do the PMS settings still show the red exclamation mark and the message “Not accessible outside your network”? This is pretty confusing to users, Plex should probably show an orange indicator or something “Indirectly accessible through Plex Relay”.

More ideas, more coding… Maybe in time the dev’s will fine tune messages/notifications.

Strictly speaking it IS not accessible, at least not directly. Relay is a work-around and not satisfactory for most people due to the bandwidth limit.

Semantics…

…but you’re right…
Actually no. Strictly speaking in the world of binary (yes/no), it IS accessible.

Relay isn’t a workaround, it’s a feature. How ever will people behind CG-NAT (i.e. the steadily increasing tens of millions of households with a DS-Lite ISP or a 4G router) run a Plex server?

Personally I’m mostly using Plex (wih Pass) for music so I don’t really care if my connection is direct or relayed, but I guess for people who are streaming 4k or running commercial the 2 Mbit might be limiting.

And for those who want to monitor who(via IP) is connecting. With relay, the IP always shows as 192.x…

Wait doesnt Plex log usernames too?

Plex… Yep… But that don’t help when friendA gives out their login credentials to someone. All I see is friendA streaming something. What I don’t see is them streaming from the moon.
