Hi all, just having trouble streaming at any quality above 720p 2mbps, i have all i can see regarding quality at maximum in regards to streaming outside my network, my server has a lifetime subscription pass as well so not that. I have it saying remote access not available at times but as long as my pc is on i can stream remotely so maybe a bug ? Please i am losing my mind, having 1080p/ 4k files but streaming in a max of 720p is very frustrating. Thank you for any help in advance.
That’s an alarm sign. It means that you are limited to the bandwidth of a Relay connection, which is 2 mbps max.
I believe it may be that unPnP or Nat PMP is not enabled, i have a router fritz!box 7530 is the name, how do i enable these features ? sorry if im asking basic questions i tried to google it and my brain melted.
I think that UPnP is enabled by default in a FritzBox.
If you have disabled it in the past, you migth be able to re-enable it for the machine with your Plex server. The setting might be somewhere under Internet - Forwardings -Portforwardings
But it is also possible that your particular Internet connection simply doesn’t allow you to use a port forwarding.
The newer your internet contract, the more likely it is that your ISP is employing Carrier-Grade-NAT.
If that is the case, you can only ask your ISP for a public IPv4 address. (Some ISPs offer this for free, some want extra money for it, and some don’t offer it at all for residential customers.)
I have opened my FRITZ!Box 7530 using command prompts router settings and it is an option to “add device for sharing” under the INTERNET->PERMIT ACCESS->PORT SHARING->ADD DEVICE FOR SHARING. This is the pathing for this option, i think this is what i am looking for ?
It might be. I am not able to give support for the FritzBox.
Right, i set the ip to static on my pc and this has worked, thank you for your help.
