Plex Remote

Hi all, is there anyway to invoke the Virtual Keyboard on my iPad or iPhone while using the PLEX Remote. Sometimes my subtitles are out of sync and I wish to use the keyboard to get them back in sync again…I can do this on my iMac as it has a real life keyboard.

ANY assistance / advice would be much appreciated.

Calling up the keyboard won’t help. There isn’t a way to change the timing of the subtitles.

I change the timing of the subtitles all the time on my iMac either to gain or to lose time. So, if you have a way to call up the virtual keyboard I would really like to know please.

Are you using OpenPHT on your iMac? OpenPHT has the ability to change the timing. The Plex app for iOS does not have that ability.

No, I am not using OpenPHT. I just open up the PLEX app one my iMac, then when the subtitles are off I use my keyboard keys to either advance them or delay them depending on what is needed.

So, if I am able to invoke the virtual keyboard I can then see if the same keystrokes allow me to do the same on the iOS.

But, as I said, I cannot figure out how to get the virtual keyboard to present itself, it does it automatically in items like Notes, or Textedit…

If you don’ t know, that’s fine, I just wondered if someone did…appreciate the replies though.

I’m still not clear what Plex client you are using. The only Plex apps on the iMac are Plex Media Player, Plex Web through a browser, and the 3rd party OpenPHT. OpenPHT is the only Plex client I am aware that can adjust subtitles during playback.

The iOS app is not the same. You cannot adjust the subtitles. It’s just not possible. If you have a bluetooth keyboard, I think you could try using that, but no way to call up the onscreen keyboard that I know of.

Edit - Plex Media Player also has the ability to change the subtitle timing. Sorry about that. But it’s still not possible with the iOS app. Totally different players, they do not work the same.

OK, I am using Plex Media Player latest version - 2.10.0.849-e02dbeca…no others.

Right, that is what I wanted to confirm on the iOS side. So no way to call up the virtual keyboard while in the iPad app. That is a pity.

As for keyboard, I actually use a wireless Logitech, unfortunately not backlit, so makes it a little more annoying, hence was wanting to see if I could do it all from the iOS.

And if anyone else happens to read this and wonders how to advance or delay subtitles. On a MAC at least you do this.

Option S - to advance in Milliseconds, sometimes I have had to go up to 15000ms to get to right, but can go higher.

Option>Shift S - to delay the subtitle.

DO NOT know the keystrokes for a Windows machine or Windows keyboard but suspect similar.

Again, appreciate the discussion…
