Plex Reverse Proxy Issues

Got a bit of a weird scenario and hoping for some assistance. My current ISP is behind a CGNAT and so I’ve setup my synology to do a reverse proxy to a desktop which houses the app (all my stuff is setup for IPv6, which Plex is still not fully supporting for some reason). Communication works and I can watch movies easily as long as it’s direct play or indirect. This is a gaming machine and the transcoding happens extremely fast.

Here’s where it gets weird: when I change my remote stream to a limit of around 4MB the transcoding is set with a 10 minute buffer which it does extremely fast, but the video sits there and stutters every 20 seconds or so.

The weird part is, the bandwidth we know works fine because I’m able to direct play the movie. The transcoding works flawlessly because on an indirect connection the movie transcodes and plays flawlessly as well. But I introduce this limit above the indirect level, but below the direct play level, stuttering happens consistently.

Would love any ideas on why this is happening. Thinking this might be an issue with the reverse proxy headers?? I went ahead and added the proxy headers I’m using. Full disclosure, my experience with reverse proxies is fairly limited.

Love that this is a paid service that you can’t get a hold of support for. Fix the IPv6 issue and I wouldn’t have to do these work arounds!
