@ljunkie - FYI: In another thread that has nothing to do with this issue, I found that I can install Plex directly onto my TV. For the same media file that causes my Roku to crash, the Plex client on the TV has no problems with the same file.

I only bought my roku ultimate for plex, and because of constant playback issues, ive stopped using it since december. I tried using it today and its even worse. It loads, but sometimes it loads very slow and takes too long to play. However, the plex app on my native Samsung tv app works perfectly fine.
Iām seeing what I think is the same issue using the Plex app with two different roku devices (streaming stick/premier). Works fine with Plex TV apps and even Synology NAS server (turned on just to test). Only happens with the shield pro plex server and anything roku. Shield server has been updated and restarted multiple times. Plex Roku app starts the media, then sits at 13 percent for about 10 seconds, then crashes to the Roku Home screen. Iāve tried changing just about every roku plex setting and even ran files through MKVtoolNix, but nothing seems to be working.
I have a few files that can crash it every single time - and itās content Plex recorded from OTA. I can watch the same content without a problem on other Plex clients, but not the Roku client.
