We have a Plex MS setup with PlexPass. We have 4 clients. 2 are Samsung BR players using the app and the other 2 are Roku Premier+ players using the Plex app. Since Monday, 1 of these 4 devices will not work with Plex. That device being a Roku Premier+. All of the sudden Monday around 1 pm it stated “content cannot be found”. We restarted the player, launched the app, it logged into the Plex server, shows our content and playlists and then if you select anything it again stated “content cannot be found”.
After that a few times I reset the player to factory default and setup the device as new and reinstalled Plex. Upon logging in on the device and watching the server side at the same time, I can see it accessing the media, I can see the device connect, and the server side shows “buffering” around the time the player (once again) shows “content cannot be found” OR it starts to play, gets to 33% and the spinning wheel just hangs right there.
On the network side the player is on i can: Play Plex from my phone, computer, and PC just fine. Stream Netflix, Amazon, various downloaded streaming channel just fine. Ping and connect to the Plex server from the network just fine.
It all points to the app itself but for the life of me I can’t figure out why a factory reset and reload didn’t fix it. Unless I have a bad Roku player…
is it possible the roku is trying to transcode and everything else is direct play? If so, could it be a folder permissions issue on the server preventing transcodes from being writeable or the disk is full or something?
