For a couple updates now I’ve had the issue of Plex running my CPU when not in use. This usually happens after I put a movie onto Cloud sync.
After it is done converting it will sit on “Waiting to be uploaded” until i restart my computer. I’ve done this a couple times and now it is not uploading AND using up my CPU in the meantime. There is no one using it remotely. It just sits there and acts like it’s converting. But it is done.
Plex has a list of things it does in the background as part of normal maintenance.
Also, if Plex was unable to match some items in your media library, it will continue to try and match them.
You can always cancel the sync. Status -> Sync and hover over the item Waiting and the red X will appear… Click it and you will be prompted to confirm.
Since last post, I have found there are instances where the transcode can get ‘stuck’. I had it happen to me as well. An issue is open and the correction is being worked & tested.
The solution for me is to delete the synced item(s) (what it thought it was syncing) since it won’t stop until it actually does complete syncing (or thinks it’s done) and restart plex. The ‘butler’ will see the abandoned file out there and take care of it during nightly maintenance.
The thing it is synced and has been for 2 days.I just deleted it and restarted Plex. Its a no go. its still running the CPU really high and im not sure why.
Would you both take a look at the log files (Plex Media server) and see if you can find what it’s complaining about? If it’s waiting to upload or uploading, it should only take a few percent of cpu.
If you’re not sure of what you’re looking at, please don’t hesitate to upload them and I/we will take a look and dig deeper.
We’ve reviewed and discussed what we are seeing. The obvious initial questions are about whether the input file and output file play the same.
The specific file to play, using VLC or other media player, is C:\Users\Otaku\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Cache\Transcode\Sync+\2995827\2e\2002.mp4
