Local play requires plex pass?

Hoping someone has some bright ideas as I am out -

I am on my laptop at home trying to play videos from my local plex server and it is asking me to sign up for plex pass to do so which as I understand it is not the correct behaviour.

I have disabled remote play, but the web interface seems to indicate that the server is remote even though I am on the same network.

I can play music no problem.

Based on what part of the screenshot do you see your stream might be considered to be remote?

Any restrictions in your browser breveting Plex from seeing certain details of your setup?
There was recently another discussion by a user with Safari who sorted their issue by disabling an option to hide the IP.

Try in Safari unchecking “hide ip address from trackers,” Settings -> Privacy and see if it goes away. Safari will hide your ip and make it look like it’s outside your network. There may be a way to prevent it per website, but I haven’t looked it up. Or you can just use the Plex Mac app. [Screenshot 2025-05-27 at 13.11.29]

I’m also having this issue across two computer and my local sever. I click on something to watch and get the popup saying to buy plex pass. It also says my server is remote when it used to say nearby.

The imgur link is an album - on the second picture it says Remote under the server name drop down.

I use pihole but nothing browser based.

I have the same issue. I have the server running on my local network and can stream to apps on TVs and mobile devices fine. But if I try and play it through a browser on my MacBook it says I need a remote pass?
