Plex Server 1.15.1.707 release signal issue thread

I’m having this same problem with a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2255 and it makes things unusable. I can reproduce the audio/video glitches on CBS 3.1, NBC 15.1, ABC 27.1 and FOX 47.1 out of the Madison, WI market. Note I’ve been unable to reproduce the issue on channels not ending in .1. For example, CW 15.2 and others like 27.2, 47.2, and 47.3 seem fine but I don’t watch these. I first noticed this issue after upgrading to 1.15.4.993 back in April. I reverted back to 1.14.1.5488 and the problem went away. Today I tried upgrading to 1.16.0.1226 due to the EPG data change notice we received and the problem came back. I then reverted to 1.14.1.5488 again to resolve the problem. Afterwards I found this thread which confirmed I’m not alone. Like others, I am now facing the issue of no new EPG data. Can Plex put a hold on the EPG data changes until this issue can be resolved for all of us? Can they look at what changes were implemented after 1.14.1.5488 which could impact this?

Any ideas to solve this issue ?

I have escalated the issue and it is at the top now.

Sticking with 1.14.1 is still an option as there would be guide data, in theory, for 14 days

The issue doesn’t seem to affect standard definition channels. Are the .2 and .3 channels in your area high def or standard def?

In the Detroit Metro market, the problems are with Fox 2.1, NBC 4.1, ABC 7.1, and CBS 62.1. I also get some Lansing, Michigan market channels where I confirmed the same issue with CBS 6.1, NBC 10.1, and ABC 53.1.

Is it possible to update to the current version, download new guide data, and revert back to the old server version using the new guide data if the problem doesn’t get fixed soon?

No

The old server would not understand or know about the new guide

Most .2 and .3 etc are SD, however my CW 15.2 is in fact HD and it didn’t show the issue while I was testing.

At the moment, I still have guide data on 1.14.1.5488. I did complete a manual refresh on the evening of June 30th.

I have a development build that i would like to offer for trying. I would like to start by making it available to users that provided diagnostics already

I will be sending a download link to
@jmfolcik
@warham30
@tkidd
@sandburner14_gmail_com
@Hooker

I hope this is a fix - but will wait for your feedback.
If problem remains then i am afraid need the same diagnostics again

Please backup the Plex Media Server database files (Databases folder) and registry settings on windows beforehand - in case you need to go back to 1.14.1.5488 and the new version updates the EPG to the new provider.

Is the development build working out for those who got to try it? I notice a new version of 1.16.2.1297 is up now. Is this the development version or is that different?

1.16.2.1297 did not resolve the issue for me.

Kevin

Thanks for the reply Kevin

Any comments from the few above that received the development version? Seems like this thread has gone silent considering plex has made this a time sensitive issue by removing the only version that seems to work and have guide data. How many people are affected by this problem I wonder. I am starting to think it must be a low number since there is not many threads about this.

We’ve gotten a handful of development builds from @sa2000 and the Plex team to try - so far, no luck in resolving the issue. They’re still looking at it.

Seems likely to me that anyone with a QuadHD tuner card will be experiencing this issue - and most of them are just going to think it’s their antenna. Only the people who have been using a quadHD and the DVR for a long while, and know how it’s supposed to look (in comparison to builds after 1.14) will be reporting anything.
