Plex Server 1.15.1.707 release signal issue thread

We finally have positive feedback that the issue is resolved with the latest test build - which removed extra signal detection code that came into 1.15.x

Thanks to everyone who participated in the tests and getting the diagnostics repeatedly

Hello, is the new test version the one that is available now, or is this a different one that is not public yet?

Different one…

Just a heads up. My guide data on 1.14.1.5488 appears to have stopped updating now and is not showing anything past July 24.

@sa2000, any idea when the rest of us may get access to a fixed version?

Just curious if 1.16.2.1321 is the version that showed promise as a fix? I did also notice a 1.16.3… version if I switch to the beta update channel. Can anyone answer this ?

I would hope that it will be either 1.16.4 or a hotfix release to 1.16.3 beta
I do not have any more info on the release

Ok down to one day of listings now, any news on when this promising release is going to be released? This thread is awfully quiet lately.

I didn’t have anything to record tomorrow with my last day of guide data so I went ahead and upgraded from 1.14.1.5488 to the 1.16.3.1402 beta version tonight. Unfortunately the problem still exists in this version so I’m guessing it doesn’t contain the fix yet. After tomorrow we all now have to watch/record TV with regular audio/video glitches or just stop using Plex.

@sa2000, can you put some pressure on someone to get the fix at least released to the beta channel or can you make the test build with the fix available to the rest of us in the thread to try?

I am following this up

A hotfix for 1.16.3 has been produced and I am making it available before release to you (as well the users that tested the earlier development build) - The hotfix build is 1.16.3.1433-359b06978

If you are updating from pre 1.16.1 release, you may need to delete the DVR and re-create it due to the change to EPG provider/setup

When recreating the DVR you may need to override the default lineup selection and select the Freeview OTA Broadcast lineup for your region - this is needed for the UK at the moment

The beta hotfix release 1.16.3.1433 has now been released

See release note

  • (LiveTV) Temporarily disable signal strength updates. This reduces pixelation with some tuners.

Thanks @sa2000 - note, because of the “Temporarily disable…”, we would love the opportunity to test any new attempts at re-inserting a new version of this code in a later version of PMS, so that we can avoid a situation where we go multiple versions with it broken again.

Thanks!

Thanks for the offer

Tthe changes will be staged - initially we will look into disabling signal info for wintv tuners. Sometime later we will see if it can be done for wintv tuners without impacting the operation of the tuner

Not sure how the patched version is working for everyone else but it seems to be working for me. I am not having any problem with any channels now. Thanks for helping @sa2000.

Still has not fixed the pixelation issue. Happens every 10 minutes or so in live tv and dvr. Have more than enough computing power. Signal strength is 100% through cable line

Ryzen 2700x
16gb ram
SSD

I installed 1.16.3.1433 via the Beta update channel and it appears to have fixed the issue for me. I have a WinTV-HVR-2255.

@sa2000, thank you for all your help with this! Also thank you to @jmfolcik for starting the thread and to everyone who contributed!

The change was to remove the check on signal level which was being done every few seconds and it appears to have impacted the streaming

It must be some other factor. What is the make and model of the tuner and is firmware level uptodate ? and does it happen on specific channels only

Would need logs coverings period of streaming and noting down exact times when it happens and then we can see if there any clues in the logs at the time. I would suggest starting a new forum thread as this one we can safely say has been resolved

The new update has fixed the issue for me as well.

Kevin

so far so good for fixing my issue that happened with a few stations consistently.
