Plex Server 1.15.1.707 release signal issue thread

I also have a WinTV tuner and it appears that my signal does not glitch since the update. I’m running Ubuntu18.04.2 LTS as my server OS with AppleTV as my primary client. Thank you.

@sa2000 does the recent release Version 1.16.4.1469 contain this fix that is in 1.16.3.1433 and all upcoming versions into the future as well?

Yes it does.

The plan is that the change that is out at the moment which removed signal checking for all DVRs will be changed to just avoid doing it for Hauppauge tuners. This may come in 1.16.5.

After that, there will be investigations to see if signal checking can be reintroduced for all tuners without impacting streaming on Hauppauge tuners.

I reverted back to 1.16.3.1433 because 1.16.4.1469 seems to buffer stutter quite often with roku (my only players) Seemed like every couple minutes it would start rebuffering, and would only last about 10-30 minutes before falsely stopping and telling me the signal level wasn’t good on the roku screen.

Thanks for reporting this. Could be some other unrelated change.

I will need your help to get this diagnosed and referred to the development team

Is it just live tv ? or video playback as well where transcoding is necessary?

What i will need is two sets of logs for similar activity soon after launch of PMS and with debug logging - to compare 1.16.3.1433 and 1.15.4.1469 logs

With regards to the glitches and pixelation issues in 1.15.x and 1.16.x, I would like to know if it was just on Windows systems. Anyone had the problem and got it fixed with 1.16.3.1433-359b06978 on other platforms?

Since 1.16.3.1433 fixed the pixelation/popping etc I’ll send you the details after I do more testing when I upgrade to 1.16.4 again, I should have time this weekend. I’ll report them to you outside of this thread.

I probably should have started a new topic now that I think about it, 1.16.3.1433 seems pretty darn reliable and fixed this overall topics core issue and what I noticed in .4. version is completely unrelated.

@sa2000 can you pm me about this. I know you use a dvb library, but this shouldn’t cause an issue. Is this a platform specific issue? If there’s a problem in an associated driver, I can potentially help. I can have any windows hauppauge issues escalated, if this is a linux issue (doubtful) then I want to know.

@sa2000 I have seen alot of story’s recently about the “new” plex player and the lack of support for TV. Seems like alot of work has been put in to fixing these problem we have had if they knew it would be not supported in the future. Do you have any input on these stories? Are they confusing the plex player and the media server? Just curious.

It is unrelated to glitches on Hauppauge tuners and Live TV. The reference to TV may have been to the TV Mode vs Web mode within Plex Media Player. Please see the forum banner and follow links for the posts and blog

I somewhere either in the blog or internet read about a little program to fix the issue with mapping and pixelation with my quad Hauppauge tuner called, Channel Fixer. If you’ve not given it a try, give it a shot and see if it fixes your problems. Not only did it fix mine, but it was able to help me map channels that didn’t previously map correct like ABC 9.1 in my market broadcast on 39.1 but the mapping went to the old digital signal at 9.1 not the HD signal at 39.1. Once I mapped it to 39.1 it started defaulting to 9.1 afterwards. To fix channel mapping and pixels in your picture download the file, delete your DVR and then run the Channel Fixer app choosing the top option. Add your DVR back but don’t scan for channels go directly to the mapping, next step and finish from that point. This fixed all of my problems. Here is the blog post link with the program links. Hope this helps a lot of you trying to fix these issues… Channel Fixer

Currently Building a re-mapper which you can use on HD HomeRuns and quad tuners. Almost done testing.
