Plex Server Crashes on DVR Record

Hello All,

We just installed a HDHomeRun EXTEND a week ago to record over the air broadcasts. Unfortunetly we are getting unpredictable crashing on the server whenever it enters Record. I took a look at the logs, which are in Debug mode, but the last line is just:

Nov 21, 2017 19:00:00.660 [0x80c4d5c00] DEBUG - DVR:Grabber: Starting operation for 'NOVA - E18 - Killer Floods'.

Then nothing…

However in the FreeNAS Kernel Log:

Nov 21 19:00:00 freenas kernel: pid 52121 (Plex Media Server), uid 972: exited on signal 11

The HDHomeRun otherwise works fine, and it is occasionally recording. I do have it set right now to the Highest profile in the DVR settings but I have not seen that changing it makes much difference. Anywhere else I should be looking?

System Info:
Plex Media Server Version 1.9.7.4460

FreeNAS Server (9.10-U3)

  • Dual Xeon E5-2630 v3 (8 Core, 2.4GHz)
  • 64GB DDR4-1866
  • SuperMicro Server

Right now the dvr function is a deep well of disappointment and you’ll just find yourself more and more angry if you try and rely on it… 50% success of shows is what it can do right now. It’ll puke on itself starting one, midstream, and at the end. Live tv is a lot better with the latest update with not having errors on starting a stream nearly as often, and sustaining a show for hours. Best to have a different program record or get them another way. I haven’t figured out a good windows program to dedicate the other two tuners to on the QuadHD, because it would probably involve additional $$ and I just spent 120 on the plexpass. Anyone have any advice on that?
