SO I have not had issues till just yesterday and now 2x yesterday in just a few hours then overnight it crashed again. So I am trying to figure out why.
I lose it. So basically what happens is it says that the name of my server and then it says that it’s unreachable. And when I open up the control panel to the server it says Plex is down and I have to reboot.
Can you still see Plex running in the task manager or if you’re using Linux then ps aux? or has it completely crashed. Both completely crashing and deadlocking will produce the same result you’re seeing but when deadlocked the app is actually still running in the background.
Reason I’m trying to be specific here is there’s a deadlocking bug that some people are experiencing that might be more widespread than is being reported.
If you have terminal access (SSH) you can type in ps aux and it will show everything that’s running. If you’re using a control panel there’s probably a section where you can send strings to command line and it will display back the output.
One thing I see is that in Plex Media Server.1.log someone tried to start up the server but it was already running. This is telling me the port assigned to Plex was already in use. So if it had crashed and you tried to start the server back up but it was still running would be indicative of this deadlocking I’m talking about. Or you just tried to start it twice in a row… I’m not seeing much in the previous log file. Do you have debug logging turned on?

Looking through the logs this is a different issue, the think to look out for to make it the same as my case is GZIP as this will be preceded by a number in brackets with the word live eg (6 Live) this is how many open connections there are to the server in that instant, the higher the number (normally above 50) is when you know there’s a issue
No not 50 people connecting, theres 50 open connections to the server, what has been happening to number of us is that a client or process will “Jam” and then spam connections to Plex and this will slowly build up until Plex is unable to process anything at all due to Stuck open connections that it is unable to close.
If you have a look through the Thread that @kegbeach linked I posted a small example of what I was getting and whats been going on.
You can’t if you take a look at the post @kegbeach linked you will see there is a number of us with this issue and Plex are looking into a fix for it!
No I dont know how to do that. I read through the other page but didn’t see anything about that.
I gave up it quit for a bit then its now doing it every few hours. Plex Media Server Logs_2021-09-20_03-23-58.zip (4.0 MB)
It just crashed again so I ran the log files.
Ok so I found it. However I dont know my plex IP address or how to find it since its not local. I did get the token but without the IP I cant do that.
