I am also having this issue

edit: going back to v16 seem to have fix the issue, ohh dear plex please fix this and get your house together.
i bought a lifetime pass, and from my perspective all they have done the past year is take way useful features (i.e. music matching didnāt work for months, just started again recently and after all that non-functional time i notice no difference from before) and break working features. I stand by my comment, i feel like i paid to be a beta tester for them. I am starting to investigate alternatives, but given i already paid for this i dont really want to pay for something else simply because they arent listening to their users
i totally agree with you, they dont listen to their users, as for alternative there is jellyfin which if plex doesnāt do something i might have to switch to.
We have been looking into the provided logs. It just looks like slow database accesses. How big is the database ? The db files on your server are in this directory
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases
Filenames
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-shm
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-wal
At this moment I only have logs from your server - despite lots of users saying they have the issue, no logs have been forthcoming to see if we have the same issue
You have 30 libraries - how many items in them? Could I have a zipped copy of the db files to see the numbers ?
The 17th December logs showed the delays / issue starting after the TV Shows scan completed
You mentioned the problem may have started about 10-14 days before the 18th December. If this is a regression in a version of Plex Media Server then I would like to have that tested and confirmed
Looking at release notices around 4th December - 8th December and just before that, we have
- 1.18.2.2058 Public Release on 22 November
- 1.18.3.2111 Beta on 3 December
- 1.18.3.2129 Beta on 6 December
I could make 1.18.2.2058 available to try
There is repeated scanning of the Music library. Did you instigate the scans or was it automatic ?
Jellyfin looks promising, but iāll have to wait for iOS apps to be available as i Sync a lot music for offline play. My primary play back device at home is Apple TV, so it wont be usable for me until they are released.
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db - 264mb
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-shm - 2mb
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-wal - 270mb
You have 30 libraries - how many items in them? - varies by library, iām not going to count/check each one but could be any where from 5 movies to a couple hundred in the various different ones. in case of the TV shows and music could be in the thousands Could I have a zipped copy of the db files to see the numbers ? Iāll try to upload those tomorrow.
I could make 1.18.2.2058 available to try - not sure what you mean? Are you saying you can test it in a lab or asking me to test it? if itās the latter, than no. Iāll provide logs but i wont be downgrading or upgrading to beta versions to test at risk complicating the issue further. i only apply updates when prompted with a general release.
There is repeated scanning of the Music library. Did you instigate the scans or was it automatic ? After the MP3s not appearing for several hours, i initiated a single scan of the music library. I have the option set to scan when ever a change is detected in the folder, however that did not seem to happen automatically as it should have.
there is infuse for ios and yatse for android when it comes to plex official app alternatives just fyi.
i know i havent gotten a chance to upload the databases yet, despite that has there been any update or word from development on this? Iām literally trying to stream music remotely and have lost access again. Not sure why as i dont have a scheduled scan going or anything. I shouldnāt even have new files being loaded right now to trigger a scan.
Iām sure once its done with what ever scan it launched it will go back to normal like it usually does, but for an application that is designed for streaming this should be a non-issue.
This is really getting frustrating.
so it finally came back to life a few minutes ago. Best i can tell it re-scanned the music library. i see one album listed as recently added, even though itās been in the folder for a while. it was a good 2-2.5hrs that it was unusable again.
The second set of logs showed different symptoms from the previous one. In this last log, there was evidence to scanning restarting just after completing - repeatedly. As if there is repeated auto notification of file changes in the directories. Do you download files straight into the library paths. As if there was continuous file changes alerts - so you could try disabling the automatic library updates and see if the issue goes away when manually or periodically running a scan
I do re-encode stuff and set it to go directly in the destination folder. I have the setting to scan folder when changes are detected so things so show up in plex automatically.
I have turned off scan my library automatically, and left run a partial scan when changes are detected select. I reran the scan of the music folder after new items were aded, which did seem to run smoother (only tried it once so far). However, i have added videos to various folders that now do not appear automatically like they used. Same as with music.
I will try setting the auto scan to every few horus to see how that works out.
Got it fully working again. deleted all my music from plex and its back and 100% working. Issue is the music. I will add some back in (I have tons) and see when it breaks. Plex app now works and that that did not work at all. no longer on āindirectā . I am 99% sure it has something to do with my library and the new music processor.
I am also noticing that i used to be able to add an episode of a show
removing the music fixed the local crashes and made the plex app work. HOWEVER it still is on indirect or unreachable outside my network⦠this is getting old⦠anyone getting any other ideas? IVP6 is off. just IVP 4. what .NET are people using? (grasping at straws after 3 months of this)
well thats an issue; 1/2 the reason i went with plex was to be able to sync my music library offline. Growing more and more regretful with my purchase. I do have a large music library but i have no interest in breaking it up to multiple libraries. If Plex is going to keep beta testing on its users they should start offering refunds.
i have found with this setup " turned off scan my library automatically, and left run a partial scan when changes are detected" adding new content doesnt appear until i manually run a scan. Thats even with a an hourly scan set to run. so kinda defeats the way i want it setup and the way it used to work until plex change something⦠and again broke working features.
i havenāt had an issue with access outside the network other when the scan is running. I assume you had it working at some point and now its not? If that isnāt the case iād check you firewall to make sure the port is open to your server.
I just added moves and tv shows and it loaded and worked fine and did not go āunreachableā (huge improvement),
After a lot of issues and attemps to resolve rolloing back to 1.17.0.1709 has worked for meā¦
