Plex Server & FireTV App Issues (Forced to re-log constantly)

Server Version#: 1.20.5.3600
Player Version#: 8.9.2.21619 / 8.10.0.21743

Hi everyone. I currently am running a PMS in a docker container on Unraid. Unfortunately due to limitations from my ISP, I am forced into DS-Lite (a public IPv6 address, and a CGNAT’d IPv4 address). As such, I followed this guide and implemented Packetriot in my setup (Packetriot also in Docker). This setup works at times, but then (seemingly randomly) will start to have some issues:

No matter what, end users have been able to at least view my plex server content from their respective application, be it fireTV, android, web app, desktop app, etc. That is to say, they can see all of the movies/tv shows avaliable all the time with my setup. However, intermittently, end users using the FireTV app (see versions above), will all of a sudden get the following error:
Error occurred while attempting to play video. Check connection and try again.

Whenever that error has occurred, I have seen nothing in the logs indicating an issue. While visiting someone who uses my server remotely, I did some digging. On my phone’s plex app, I first received the same error, but as soon as I re-logged into my plex account, the issue went away temporarily. I tested the same on the FireTV and lo and behold it worked… Until you restarted the TV. As soon as you turned off the TV and turned it back on again, you would have to log out and back in to get video’s to stream again.

I did some testing with other versions and found that com.plexapp.android_8.9.0.21537 did not have this weird issue to force you to log out and in every time you restart the TV. However, anytime I seem to restart/recreate my PacketRiot infrastructure, users have to re-log in to get the app working again…

Is this a byproduct of my configuration with packetriot? If so, does anyone know of something I can do to avoid it (apart from obviously moving somewhere I can get a public IPv4 address :joy:)? Perhaps someone has alternative options to getting remote access working more reliably?

It may be worth noting: I’ve never had any issues with local direct-play/transcoding via the android app, the lg app, or via web app.

Thanks for taking the time to read and in advance for any help you can provide!

I can’t help much, but adding all this complexity with Docker + a tunnel is probably not the easiest way to do it.

Have you tried just running Plex on regular Linux (ie, not Docker) and setting it up to serve over IPv6?
