Server Version#: 1.23.2.4625-a83d2d0f9
Player Version#: 4.58.1
Since Wed. 6/2/21 my Plex server was no longer reachable. I made no OS, software or PC configuration updates that could have caused the issue and there were no network/internet connection issues. I tried all the standard troubleshooting, i.e. restarted the server, logged out/in of the app, rebooted my PC, rebooted router, disabled firewall etc., but no joy. Then I noticed in the Plex settings, that a new server was listed, which has the name of my PC, so I connected to it. All my libraries were still there, so I just had to unpin the libraries linked to my old server and repinned them to the new server.
Can someone tell me why this happened and how can I prevent this issue? Can I now delete the old server that is no longer reachable?
This happened to me last night after the latest update. Everything was working until this update.
It made me create a new server name, which I did. New one shows up with all my media, old one says unreachable.
Very annoying, wasted an hour trying to get plex working today. Had to unpin everything on 3 devices.
The new account also doesn’t seem to auto update my library after I removed some files. Something is very broken with this new update!
Wow, so I’m not the only one! Just curious, was the new server name that of your PC? That’s what happened to me. Also, I didn’t install an update, this just happened out of the blue. I hope I don’t find any buggy behavior with the new server, I haven’t really put it to the test yet.
if any of you can share your server logs with me ( especially if they are from the timeframe of updating or new server being created) it would be appreciated. (click on my username/avatar to message me)
There are a couple different but similar issues we are investigating.
I went to update to 1.23.2.4625 this morning and saw it is unavailable. Based on this thread and others, I assume the update was taken down as a result. Would like confirmation this is the case, since if it is not, then I seem to have lost access to latest release.
hi, yes, same thing happened to me too. A new server was created with the PC name. Very annoying since all my shared libraries and client apps are linked to the old server.
Anyway, i’ve shared my logs with BigWheel, hopefully they can find what is the issue!
We did pull the update till we figure out what caused issue with it creating a new server. It only affected windows users as far as it creating a new server.
the ability to connect is a separate issue regarding certificates
Same thing on Nvidia Shield. Woke up today and the PLEX web app cant access my server. Happens every few months and I have to factory reset the Shield & set up Plex all over again which takes hours & hours…
The issue with certificates only started about a week or so ago. and the duplicate server thing would have only happened to windows users.
@DWH30 Did you factory reset your shield again? I don’t see any servers on your account so I can’t reset certificates. Did you delete it from your account?
If you have had to factory reset every few months for a while that is probably something else.
The connecting/certificate issue happened to me with the update /new server thing. Everything worked fine before that, no certificate issues before the update.
