Server Version#: Version 1.19.4.2902
Player Version#: Version 4.30.2 (I think!!!)
Hello, I’m not able to stream 4K movies. I’m getting the following message: "The Server is not powerful enough to convert this video. For smooth playback try playing the original quality.”
The Plex web server is on my Windows 10 PC. I’m hardwired to my router and averaging 945 download speed and 190 upload speed.
I’m running Plex on 2 TV’s. My upstairs TV is a 1080 P Samsung, with a Nvidia Shield connected. My downstairs TV is a 4K with a 4K Firestick connected. I’m looking at the properties of the movies and they’re H265. (Is this the issue)?
Any ideas or solutions? Please, I’m a newbie so please don’t speak over my head. Lol
I was under the impression that this relates more to CPU speed than anything network related. What kind of processor do you have?
There are some guidelines here that will require you to go to a link to check out the passmark score for your CPU to see if it can handle a 4K stream. I believe you need something north of 12,000 for that.
But other smarter people can chime in on transcode rquirements based on file types.
That is a really underpowered processor. If I had to guess I would say one of two things is happening:
You were direct streaming before and now you are transcoding and your system can’t handle the 4K transcode
More likely, your computer was doing other things in the background taking away processing power from a computer that, with nothing running, can only handle a max of 1 transcode in the first place. What else were you/do you use your computer for?
