Hi mateDon’t have any additional details to share other than the symptoms I described and what I had to do at the network level to address it. For my home network switching off multicast forward is acceptable - for many other networks that may not be an option in which case plex will continue to effectively create symptoms like I have described and bring the network segment down.
Certainly one for the developers to consider replicating in their environment to investigate further if they are so inclined.
What is different about your environment ?
Plex has been sending broadcasts and SSDP multicasts for years and there is no issue with that, They are sent every few seconds.
Could it not be the way your network is setup ?

Not sure whether it is indeed a bridge loop…certainly has similar symptoms but not conclusive. My Home switch router combo has no spanning tree controls - never had a problem with it for years until now. What is however conclusive is that the minix PC works perfectly fine with PMS off - as soon as I would switch on PMS and start to access it via a client it would crash the PC and flood the network. So Plex is the trigger.
2 days after making the changes on the network (disabling multicast forward) and Plex is holding up great.
Certainly interested in understanding what it is that Plex is doing however super pleased that my setup is working like a charm now ![]()
