Plex Server MAC randomly crashing

Server Version#: 1.32.3.7162

Recently did some housework on my Plex server that I’d neglected for a while. Upgraded from Mojave to Catalina 10.15.7. Also I created a Plex Home, so my children could quickly click on their icon on any TV in the house. Also I thought I’d try out the start and end credits feature (which I’ve set up to be a scheduled task only). I also upgraded to Server 1.32.3.7162. Finally I agreed to the nagging message about upgrading my library.

Since then Plex has been crashing - happens daily. I watch a TV episode on my AppleTV client, and a few minutes later when I go to play the next episode, it tells me Plex is unavailable. (Interestingly it doesn’t seem to happen when actually watching the episode). I then look on my Plex server, see that it isn’t running and click the Plex icon to start the server back up.

This is my first time, so apologies if I haven’t included all the relevant information.

I have the same Issue
Running Plex 1.32.3.7192 on a Mac Mini 2018 (Core i3) with MacOS Ventura 13.4
Plex Media Server is running smoothly as long as I use it… but when no client is accessing it, it randomly shuts down.

Experiencing the same - recent software update has rendered Plex unusable on my Mac Mini M1. Crashes with “playback error - http request failed” and have to close the server application and reopen constantly

I have the same Issue.
1.32.3.7192 on M2 Pro Mac Mini with MacOS 13.4 Ventura.
Randomly PMS shut down, when client on living room TV play.

Something is definitely up with this last update. This is, I believe, the 4th thread about how the latest version is seriously messing with Mac users, the most recent before this one being here

Happening for me too on OS 13.4, iMac.

Often occurs after I stop an episode at its end. Sometimes occurs when choosing a different subtitle. I can see the Plex TV app trying to locate the server and therefore know the app has crashed on the server.

Only way to fix is to restart the app. This started happening before 1.32.3.7192 - if I recall correctly it was at least two or maybe three updates prior.

Obviously some bugs somewhere.

same here on MacMini/HighSierra

Please attach the zip for all the logs and not just one log file

After the crash, restart the server and then go to Plex Web / Settings / Help and Download the server logs and attach

Please also do the following to see if any diagnostic reports got created by the OS at the time

Use the Finder’s Go menu, select Go To Folder… then enter the following in the dialog box that pops up:

~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/

Look in this area for any Plex related files that were created around the time of the crash and zip and attach with the server logs zip

The server logs will show me if there was any Plex Media Server dmp file that i need you to fetch from $TMPDIR (we save a copy there)

I have a Plex Media Server development build to offer to Mac OS users that have been getting server crashes when the transcoder crashes out - this will not stop the transcoder crash but address the server crash issue

I will make this build available to Mac users who have passed me evidence of the server crashes - anyone else affected and willing to try, do let me know
