I am running same version of Plex Media server for windows. One is running Windows Server 2016 and other one is running windows 10 and both are connected to same hard drive but the problem is one server (windows server) have all movies listed but other server with windows 10 is missing 30+ movies even i have tried re-scan library several times. I have tried adding library again. I have tried re-intalling the OS but still got same results. This happened to the 4 Library folders located on same drive. Windows Server has all files listed in library but the plex server running on windows 10 is missing over 30 movies in each library.
Please help me if someone can as i have tried everything possible rather then install windows server on my other cmputer also which i do not want to.
There’s a number of options why your movies might not be showing, e.g.
If you have configured your library to hide movies which are in a collection you’ll only see 1 item for the collection instead of 1 item for each movie (e.g. 1 “Harry Potter” collection instead of 8 “Harry Potter” movies). How to check: Plex will only display collections in your library if it’s sorted By Title → sort your library by anything but By Title and you should see the full list of movies
Plex could have mismatched some of your movies – this can happen if your naming / folder organization is off. If Plex has mismatched some of your movies as another movie already in your library, it’ll treat that movie as a different version. How to check: Filter your library for Duplicates to see all items with multiple versions; you can use the Split Apart action from their context menu and subsequently Fix Match for the one that had been mismatched
Here is a screenshot of folder and library number of files.
server with windws server 2016 is missing 80 movies and windows 10 plex server is missing 130 titles and remember both server are accessing data from same drive.
Plex isn’t listing the number of files.
The number you see on top of your library is the number of items. This will be impacted if you apply a filter – or if you have grouped your movies in collections, Plex is grouping them as different versions of the same file.
What’s the number if you sort your library By Year?
How many items will Plex show you if you apply the Duplicate filter (from the dropdown behind the All label at the top of your library listing)?
Well… I’m glad you already figured out 22 of those (1711 → 1733).
File naming can be a … pain… and yours aren’t necessarily spot-on. If your new server is using a different agent, this could cause some of the files to be recognized as sequential parts of the same movie (e.g. if their names contain - pt1, - pt2 or the likes). This way Plex will “stack” the files (1 movie spread across multiple files) and they won’t show as duplicates.
You can use some 3rd party tools to check where Plex placed your files. There’s e.g. WebTools-NG/ExportTools-NG which can give you a list of all the items in your library and their associated files.
