Some content not appearing on my server

Server Version#: 4.100.1
Player Version#:

Hello Gurus of Plex
I have a server and I have 543 movies in that folder in the .MP$ format BUT only 514 are appearing on my server what is the issue and how do I get to see all 543 movies?

Thanks

There’s a number of possible scenarios as for why this might be happening.

The most common issue seems to be some confusion about what the number in Plex actually indicates. This is referring to the number of items visible in the given view – not the number of files. Those can be different if you’ve configured your library to (automatically) group movies into collections, hiding their items. Another scenario could be Plex treating different files as different quality versions of the same movie (merging them into a single item).
You can filter your libraries for Duplicates. This will show items that have multiple files associated to them.

However… Plex might actually ignore some files. This can be bases on how they’re organized or named – Plex will e.g. ignore files named like a TV episode in a movie library.

@tom80H couple of questions where do find the configuration you mention about grouping movies?

Second how do I check for duplicates

If you have the library filtered by title, items in collections may be hidden causing your total number of videos appear to be incorrect

3 dots next to the library → Manage Library → Edit → Advanced

To check for duplicates, go to the library view and look here
Screenshot (506)

When you find a duplicate movie click the 3 dots on the movie poster and select “get info”
That will show you what two movies merged together and their path on your file system

Make sure the movies have the date in parenthesis
The Matrix (1999)

You can also add the imdb or tmdb id number into the file name in curly brackets
The Matrix (1999) {imdb-tt0133093}.mkv

Optional info in the file name like .h265.atmos.1234 needs to be in square brackets. [.h265.atmos.1234]

That causes the scanner to ignore that information so it doesn’t cause a problem with matching

If you need to make changes to the names of the movies you may have to plex dance the file for the changes to be recognized
