Plex Server - Moving Content to a new Location - "No write Access to Destination" Error?

Server Version#:1.26.1…5772-7000
Player Version#:1.44.0.2981-e2d72ac2

“Moving Content to a New Location” Instructions do not seem to work.

I have performed all the operations detailed in thes help document.
I have given read/write permissions to ‘mark’ - the administrator (Me!) for the new folders using Shared Folder App.
Each (TV Recordings and Films) new Library on a new Volume has had all the files on the existing Library copied across to the new Shared Folders.
I have added the folders in Library Maintenance for both TV and Films.
These folders appear as a choice in the drop down list when you activate a new recording.
When the new folder is used for the recording it appears to be working but when you go to the “Guide” Screen in Live TV & DVR the Red Dot appears next to the chosen Recording requested programme. However if you now go to “DVR-Schedule” screen the programme to be recorded has turned ‘brown in colour’ and there is an exclamation Mark in the bottom right hand corner which when hovered over says “No write Access to Destination”

The original media is in both folders and I have tried to index the libraries - the reindexing should take 5 minutes but it only ‘blinks for a second’ and goes back to non scanning. It is as if there are no films or tv recording present.

I have given permission to mark for read/write access.

Can you please advise if there is another method of moving media to a new location/folder. I have tried this twice and the results are the same.

Many thanks

Mark

Keep in mind that the Plex Media Server on Linux isn’t running as “you”. It’s usually running under a separate system account (e.g. plex)…

Help… Not being a Linux guy I dont understand! If this is the case then why should my initial library location work? I have given permission for read/write to all users irrespective. The permissions are identical to the original Library Folders? What can I do to try and sort this? Are their Debug logs appropriate?

Tom - Is there anything I can do to establish where the fault lays! I have responded to your thoughts…I am still somewhat confused! Is this something I can ask Plex Support to look into?
Kind regard Mark

Not much to look into except for you checking the permissions on the folders. Permissions on a top-level folder aren’t automatically applied to their children. That’s particularly true if you’re mounting a drive.

The Linux tips and tricks are a good starting point. In the end this is the basics of dealing with that operating system…
