PLEX DVR: No Write Access To Destination

Hi,

Server Version#: 1.40.0.7998
Tuner Make/Model: HD Homerun Connect Quattro
Synology DS418 Play

I am getting the following message:
No Write Access To Destination

I have recorded form Live TV previously and think the last time I did so was 2 months or so ago.

I’m wondering if I should roll back to an older version of Plex for now.

Any advice on what I need to do?

Thanks in advance.

Rolling back to an older version won’t resolve that permission issue.
It’ll be more helpful to verify what folder has been selected (if the target library has more than one) and verify the functional user running the Plex Media Server on your NAS has read & write access to that folder (user name depends on what version of DSM your running on that NAS → DSM 5/6 vs. DSM 7).

Hi.
Thanks for your quick reply.

I am using DSM7.

Where do I need to look for the relevant folder info? I presume it is my TV folder, as my DVR recordings always saved to there previously?

Sorry but it’s all a bit technical for me!

To add to Tom,

In each folder where PMS will be writing, there is a .grab folder, user PlexMediaServer must have Read-Write access to it.

It then most have read-write access to where you ultimately place the recording.

You need to do all this because Plex is not “Privileged” on the Synology.
It only has access where you allow (requested by MANY users and now mandated by DSM) AND only has the access level you expressly grant it.

Hi Chuck.

Thanks for your reply.

I forgot to mention that I uninstalled & reinstalled my Homerun, expecting it to recreate a folder & file path but it didn’t seem to work.

I will look into this further later.

Update:

Found the relevant folder. It turns out the .grab folder had a random \ in front of it, so all sorted.

No idea how that happened, though!

Thanks for your help, guys.
