Plex server not available (10054)

Hey folks,
PMS to Xbox One was working fine for a long time for me, but a couple of months ago it started acting up.
Here’s what happens:

  • Video suddenly stops (usually two quarters into an average length movie) > Screen goes black and often (not always) Plex forgets the position in the movie and I have to start from the beginning. Sometimes I can hit retry and it will resume from the last position.
    This happens with every movie or video file. Note that the PC running PMS is not going to sleep when this happens.

At first I thought it was the PC I used as PMS, which was a bit dated (Core Duo 2), but I frankensteined this computer together out of my old gaming machine: Athlon X4 II 635, GTS250, 8GB RAM which is a significant upgrade to what I used before and the exact same problem still occurs.

PMS runs version 0.9.14.6 and Windows 10.

Please find attached the log file from this afternoon. The movie did cut out at 15:36 and 15:55.
Around that time error pop up:

I would highly appreciate if you guys could have a look and give me advice how to fix this.

No support? Well, I suppose it’s time then to let the Plex Pass run out.

In the first disconnect your Xbox lost connection to the server. It tried 3 different IP addresses each with and without secure connection before being able to reconnect after a second attempt.

With the second disconnect it looks like your server lost it’s network connection completely which is usually caused by the router getting over loaded/resetting.

In both cases the 10054 appears to be because the server can no longer communicate with the Xbox and thinks the xbox shut the connection down.

Everytime i click anything the first time i get server not found when i click again it works…i’m talking everything, browsing, playing…how annoying is that? Unusable.

What else is running on your Plex server computer?

it’s a windows home server using stablebit drivepool. There is no other types of servers running, i use it to stream videos to other devices directly as well, thats about it They discs are in two towers using eSata

It could be network issue / network card going to sleep / power save on the server PC
In the log file supplied - it shows network card going down at this time

Noticed by the XBOX One - the logging of course only works when the network connection is restored as it is logging to the server:

Thanks for the replies. I’m going to look at the power settings of the server and the router for the connection issues.
