I have been successfully using plex to remote stream/ sync from UK to Spain for a couple of years so presumably I was doing something right.
I recently upgraded to BT Infinity and had to reconfigure my network to allow BT Sport to work. This involved using the BT modem/router to support the Youview box and running everythng else via my original dd-wrt router. The dd-wrt router is there to allow me to wake up the servers from Spain ( where I am now) .
I now have found out that the server(s) are not available outside my home network. I can stream recorded stuff to my android tablet, ipad etc but my ROKU box does not find the server(s) and Sync of programs to my android / ipad appears to work in that the program is transcoded and downloaded but it does not become available.
So here is the config - as I have two servers I am using 32402 and 32403 ( all of this used to work)
Server 192.168.0.135 is connected to dd-wrt router which has a static ip set (192.168.1.253) to give it a “wan” connection to my BT router which has to “true” wan ip of 86.xxx.xxx.xxx.
Which router should do the port forward ?
Remote access to my plex server shows 192.168.0.135:32400 —86.xxx.xxx.xx:32403 not accessible
Canyouseeme .org also confirms 86.xxx.xx.xx:32403 not open

I had a very similar setup before I replaced the BT HomeHub with a Netgear router and went to only 1 router (I only used the BT Homehub for BT sport but the Netgear I have now supports BT Sports without issues).
If I remember correctly, with one server I had port 32400 forwarded to the IP of my second router, and that second router had port 32400 forwarded to the Plex server.
With 2 servers it will be essentially the same, just make sure you set up the port in Plex correctly (change it to the non standard port)
Thanks for response -will try as soon as my BTHH5 lets me back in again ! Bugger!
As stated, if you have 2 routers running in “double NAT” mode you will need to port forward from external router to internal and from internal to server.
I assume you are using the DD-WRT router as you like some of the features!
Another solution would be just to use this single router and get that working for the BT vision - for that it will need to be set up for multicast / IGMp snooping
See section 4 here for a guide :

Well I made some progress but I was still unable to sync programs to my mobile devices so I disabled network access on one of my plex servers and set the other one up as I hade been guided to do but with only the standard port 32400 involved and I can now direct access and sync programs so am happy bunny - the other server is for backup.
Re single router for BT Vision I looked into this before going for two routers but my version of dd-wrt doesn’t appear to support multicast etc and I chickened out of flashig a new code package
thanks for interest and guidance
