Hi,
I’ve re-installed Plex on my NAS and when I go to Plex.tv I can login to my account but it’s not finding my server.
Anyone any tips please?

Hi Trumpy81,
It is running. I’ve downloaded claimit and it’s saying it’s not a Private IP. Can you confirm Plex cannot run on a Public WAN IP?
Thanks.
why do people have to be so sarcastic? I did read that page and it says nothing about having to use an SSH tunnel! It just says that program won’t work as I’m not on the same subnet…
I’m looking at the instructions for setting it up on Synology as per Q3 on:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288586-installation/?_ga=2.261992334.286047958.1563172759-27155067.1563172759
However I’m unsure which bit I have to follow because it doesn’t say anything about setting up an SSH tunnel on there at the bottom of the page?
Just checking I have the right page… Am I looking to create and SSH tunnel (If so I cannot find anything)… or the info to download the claimit sh script to the synology server and run it from there?
doing it now, thanks
Okay tried that and it’s still sitting there searching for a server:
plex.tv Username: MyUsername
plex.tv Password:
plex.tv Password Repeated:
IP Address of PMS server: 127.0.0.1
Comparing entered passwords
Comparing entered passwords ok
Validating IP address
Getting PMS Server Identifier
Getting PMS Server Identifier ok
Getting User Token from plex.tv
Getting User Token from plex.tv ok
Getting PMS Claim Token
Getting PMS Claim Token ok
Claiming server
Claiming server ok 200
Please close your browser, reopen, and browse to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
It is on my local network, it’s additional public IPs assigned by my ISP. So do I still need an SSH tunnel?
If so do you have any guides how to set one up?
Okay, getting a little confused right now…
I’ve never setup an SSH tunnel before so is this something I need to setup permanently from my router to the server?
Or is it a temp connection just while I install Plex from scratch? i.e. I should remove plex and follow on of the guides in your link?
Thanks.
Okay that’s good to hear. I’ll delete plex and try again.
Thanks
I’ve just setup the SSH tunnel, but am I claiming it through the script or the web browser now?
well, i’ve followed the guide but not sure if i’m configuring it for the SSH port or the plex port?
Regardless I’ve tried both and going to 127.0.0.1:32400/web is not loading anything.
Ideas?
