Player Version#: Plex app in TV
Plex server running on Windows 7 Home Premium.
My Plex server has been running happily for years, I just updated it to version 1.24.4.5081 and it no longer works properly with my Samsung UE40H6400 TV running the Plex app. It sees the Plex server and lets me go through the menus and select a programme but when I try to play it, it shows a box saying, “Can’t connect to the selected server or the content is no longer available”. We have never seen this before.
The fact that the player in the Plex server can play the show and the app on the TV can display the menus and let me select a show proves that the server is there and online, and I checked shows in other folders and got the same result. Other than this update, nothing has changed since last night when it was working perfectly and it is still the same after a reboot of both TV and computer.
Clearly this update has stopped the app from working correctly. Please look into it and fix it as we use Plex every night and depend on it.
I am having problems with the new update as well. Right after I updated, I tried to rescan a tv show and none of the metadata is coming through. I tried a “refresh metadata” on the entire folder and now none of the shows have metadata other than the original posters.
I have an LG smart TV that we bought a few months ago. Since then Plex has worked perfectly but a week ago the media servers on both our PC’s show as unavailable on the TV app (the app and media servers are up to date). I can open the app on my phone and watch the shows on my wife’s computer and vice versa, so the server is working fine. Just in case I have re-installed the app on the TV and the media server from my computer by removing everything like registry and so on. I have even set the TV to factory settings and set it up from scratch but no, it just says PC1 is Currently Unavailable. I have really enjoyed Plex the last couple of months but I guess I’m back to HDMI and jumping from the couch to stop or play from the computer like a caveman.
