I recently set up a Plex server on a new mini. I’ve run Plex for years on Linux and QNAP. The QNAP is actually the file server for this instance of Plex. I had no problem setting up the server, but it occasionally hangs. By this I mean Plex clients (both local and remote) show the server as unavailable but when I look in the process table of my mac, I find that the Plex processes all appear to be running. I run a script to bounce Plex and all is good again. This doesn’t happen often, but has happened twice since I set up this instance.
Is there a way I can test from a shell script to see if the server is running and responding? If so, then my script could bounce it.
