Just found this thread… using PMS on TS-H686
Upgraded to QuTS v5 this week.

So, a new issue with h886, QuTS 5.0.0.1892 , using plex beta 1.25.3.5409.
if the machine is rebooted, plex doesnt make use of my nvidia card for transcoding.
If I restart plex server after reboot, the nvidia card is used for transcoding.
I suspect that this might be the case of that, upon reboot, plex starts before the card’s drivers are completely loaded.
Any advice on how to fix this?
Thank you for this but this has to be given to QNAP to fix. (QuTS Firmware problem)
They control the timing in all regards.
The only thing I specify, which is how it’s always been, is the sequence ID number.
Plex runs as ‘101’. (System tasks are 1-99, QNAP apps are 100, We are 101)
It sounds like they aren’t waiting for 0-99 to finish before starting the 100+ block

This has probably started happening with the last QuTS update, as I havent noticed it in the past.
Which version firmware did you previously use?
I believe it was h5.0.0.1856 build 20211117
I dont believe the issue existed in that or the h5.0.0.1844 build 20211105 Public Beta 2
If you want to back down one firmware revision, that should be OK.
I would not revert to the “beta 2” one as that is dangerous (file system)
When you inform QNAP of the problem (and send them your system logs with the ticket),
Please advise them the gpu_hal system app isn’t showing the Nvidia GPU, which is in QTS mode, as available prior to starting Plex Media Server.
That’ll point them right at the issue.

There have been 2 QuTS firmware releases since then but the issue hasn’t been rectified yet

Did you try restarting PMS ?
Is the video card in QTS mode?
May I see the DEBUG logs which capture a trancoding attempt from PMS?
