I’ve been experiencing an issue for the last few months and am unable to figure out the solution on my own. The general issue is that randomly my Plex server will go offline and depending on the device I am playing content from it will either recover after a minute or completely kill the NIC on my Plex server.
My setup:
Plex Server Version 1.13.0.5023
Windows 10 machine ( Windows Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299)
Xbox One X
Vizio m55-e0
All network connections hardwired
While streaming content to my Xbox One X at random times the playback will stop and say ‘Buffering…’ indefinitely until I back out at which point I receive a message saying the Plex server has gone offline or is unreachable. When this happens and I go over to my Windows 10 machine it appears that the NIC errors out and even though it has an assigned IP is unable to connect to the internet. I either have to log out and log in or reboot the computer to resolve. I do run a VPN on my Windows 10 machine but have experienced this issue when it is active and when it is not.
What is odd is that when streaming content using the built in Plex app on my Vizio smart TV I experience similar random drops and see the error message saying that the Plex server is offline but it will recover itself and be back to normal after 30 seconds or so. When I check the Windows 10 machine the network interface is fine and everything is normal.
I have disabled DLNA, reset and checked all network settings, and re-installed my NIC driver. I tried looking over the error logs myself but I’d like some assistance in seeing if they can shed any light on the issue. Below are two attachments, a set of logs while the issue occurred for both my Xbox and Vizio TV.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
