Server Version#: 1.32.5.7210
Player Version#: 4.110.1
I had to re-install my system software (Windows 11 Pro) 2 days ago. I then of course had to reinstall the PLEX server. I have done this many times, sadly, and have never had this issue come about.
I reinstalled the server, moved the latest backup file into the database directories (since I found 2 of them…one in the install location and one in (C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases) and ran the server. Launched the server and of course it didn’t set up right. I then saw 3 versions of my server with 2 being offline. However, when I would click on them all the graphics were there. Well, all it was showing anyway. I later figured out it was seeing one off my laptop which I turned off and deleted from the list of servers…however, again, the graphics were there. But the one from the laptop would be easily 2 years old. Thus, missing 40-50 tv series as well as 12-1300 movies.
The server database file from the backup on my main computer was only 2 days old. However, as stated, I have only a couple and I mean a couple of the graphics showing up. I have done several ‘Refresh all Metadata’ on each folder and doing that added maybe 30 …maybe.
I have intentionally NOT done the Plex dance as there are some TV series and movies that are ‘missing’ (lost when I lost the HD they were on) that still show up but with the trash can, so that I can see which ones they are and put them back as I have time. Thus, I don’t want to lose those ‘placeholders’. And I am sure the Plex dance will do that.
As stated, I actually had to re-install my system just 2 months ago and the PLEX server reinstall at that time was flawless. So I don’t know what is different this time. Can someone please tell me what the various database files contain? I only ever moved the one:
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
And it seems that it’s the only one that PLEX makes a backup of in the settings. But I see the blobs file is quite large. What does that one contain? All my graphics that are missing??
Thanks for any thoughts on this one… I literally last week spent 4 hours getting and fixing grahpics for hundreds and hundreds of movie and tv episode files… And now to have less than 100 at all is making my brain want to explode… And that’s out of over 4500 movies.
NOTE: I actually have MOST of my TV episode ones. So it’s just the movie (3D Movies, 4K Movies, HD Movies) as well as my TV Mini-Series entries that are missing the poster graphics. Also, when I click to edit a movie and click on poster all the posters show up. So I could spend months putting them all back. But why isn’t the server turning them on like it does if you add a new item?
