Plex Server runs but no installation folders and files on the Syn

Hello,

I wanted to install the IPTV.bundle on the Syn DS716 + II. For this I have inquired here in the forum where to put the plug-in.
Then I just looked for the directory: / Volume1 / Plex / Library / Application Support / Plex Media Server /

But to my great surprise, there is a user “Plex” but there is not a single file and no folders in there.

For a couple of weeks now I have installed Plex directly from Synology’s Package Center,
then 2 times a (manual) update (Synology Package Center) of the server performed.
That worked smoothly. Also I have the music, videos and images (all on Sny).

But where has Plex now “really” installed?
Where can I find my “correct” plug-in folder?

On the Plex player (under server) can not even see where Plex has installed.
Also not in the Syn. Package Center for Plex.

Does anyone have a tip for me?

Synology requires I keep the binaries in their binaries area (aka… @appstore). While sometimes confusing, it’s also a big benefit.
You can remove/downgrade the Plex server version without losing your library metadata. You can also move the Plex share to a different Volume should you have need. I’ve built this flexibility into the installer. It’s activated when Package Center sees you have multiple disk volumes. It will let you select where to install PMS. I obey the values it tells me.

For you to install a plug-in,

  1. Control Panel - Shared Folders - Edit the Plex share
  2. Permissions tab
  3. Give your username R/W permission
  4. Open File Station
  5. Browse Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins
  6. You can deposit your plugin.bundle here
  7. Before exiting, you must change ownership to user plex:users for it to run.
