Plex server unreachable after disabling remote access

Server Version#: 1.29.0.6244-7000
Player Version#: 4.87.2

I was playing around with my plex and disabled remote access. Now I can’t connect even locally to it. I get the error:
“The server “Marlo’s NAS” is unreachable. Make sure it’s running, double check your network, and try again.”
I tried to directly connect to it using local host and 127.0.0.1:32400/web

Please help

Thanks,

Marlo

Check both LAN addresses.

192.168.86.237, 192.168.86.37

Unfortunately, that did not work. Thank you though

Using FileStation,

Navigate to PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server

Right-click LogsCompress to Logs.zip

When the logs have compresed, download the zip file

Attach it here please

Logs.zip (4.2 MB)

Here it is. I even tried to restore from a backup

Just an FYI I can play movies from my phone and firesticks while on my wireless network. If I turn of wifi no connection.

I rebooted my modem and was able to connect to the 2nd IP of the NAS Plex Server. I re enabled remote access and looks like I am up and running now.

Although both of my Plex servers (a PS and my NAS) on the local network are showing indirect now. Is this a different issue or can you suggest a fix for this?

On your Synology, You have both adapters plugged into your LAN.

For home use, this isn’t stable. PMS will get confused because of how DSM works in this situation. (it will alternate between the two without any indication)

If you want to use both at the same time, create a ‘BOND’ adapter using both eth0 and eth1.
(Control Panel - Network Interface)

You’ll create a bonded adapter (one IP address but using both adapters).

The best practice is to unplug one.

The choice is yours.

After you’ve made that change, restart DSM and let it all restart in the new configuration.

You’ll find it’s more stable and everything will now be at the one IP address.

Hi,

I unplugged one of the adapters and rebooted.

Do you know why I am getting “indirect connection” on both my Plex servers? I have a PC running plex and the NAS. Both have static IP’s and are on my local network. I used to see direct connection

Thank you,

Marlo

You will get “Indirect Connection” if there’s a firewall active and the app/player can’t connect directly to port 32400 (LAN port)

Is everything wired or wifi?

If wifi, be careful because some WiFi APs “isolate” your devices from your LAN. (Isolation mode). If that’s enabled, you’ll get “Indirect” connection as well because the WiFi must go out to plex.tv first then loop back

The players seem to be getting direct play. The place where I see “indirect” is from the web app looking at each server connection.

I guess that is not a big deal as long as the players are streaming directly.

Thank you so much for all your help! I really appreciate it.

Marlo
