Plex server updates for Terramaster Nas's

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3842
Player Version#:

Terramaster are now saying that Plex will be releasing the updates for Terramaster NAS’s. Is this true as we are still without the DDos vulnerability fix on the Terramaster NAS’s. This is taken from the Terramaster forum -

“Some third party apps like plex release update so often, we are not able to catch up. Allowing third parties to release update themselves, that will help you get latest updates faster. of course, such apps will remain listing in TerraMaster app stores.”

“We will push plex team to hurry, please do that from your side too.”

Can we get a reply for scoobyfizz?

I’m considering purchasing a Terramaster F5-221. And I would like to know how Plex treats these customers.

Who knows it appears there is a stalemate here. Terramaster are now saying it is now up to plex to provide updates but no reply from plex. In the meantime teramaster nas are still exposed to ddos vulnerability as there has been no update to fix it from either party.

I’ll reach out to them again to discuss. That said the SSDP issue only affects you if you if the device it is running on is directly connected to the internet and has a public IP address with no firewall in place, or you have manually forwarded the UDP ports to PMS in your firewall.

If you have not ticked the manually configured port option in Plex Web, We only attempt to setup a UPNP/NAT-PMP port forward of a random external TCP port to TCP port 32400 internally.

So in most cases users are fine unless they have miss configured their environment.

TerraMaster is saying on their forum that they have reached out, but received no reply. Would greatly appreciate if the two parties could work this out to protect us from the bug/vulnerability, even if you think it’s not that big of a deal in most cases.

Would you mind clarifying whether you release updates to TerraMaster, or if they are responsible for compiling/implementing to their own App center? We (TerraMaster customers) are often several versions behind, and if that lies on the shoulders of TM, I would like to know as I’m already considering purchasing another NAS and this might push me over the edge.

Whenever we release a new public version of Plex Media Server, we notify TerraMaster who then work to get that version included in their app store. Due to the frequency of our releases, often the TerraMaster app store can be behind a few versions.

That said, We are working to package and provide standalone PMS packages on our downloads site that you can manually install/upgrade on your TerraMaster NAS.

In the meantime ddos vulnerability is still not fixed on our nas

As explained above, this issue doesn’t affect you, unless you have made a mistake in configuring your router or if you have placed your NAS into the DMZ.

That said the SSDP issue only affects you if you if the device it is running on is directly connected to the internet and has a public IP address with no firewall in place, or you have manually forwarded the UDP ports to PMS in your firewall.

Plex Media Server 1.21.4.4079 has just been pushed to the Terra-Master app store.

Hopefully we will get it soon as we haven’t yet.

Take it back there now…

I’ve upgraded to 1.21.4.4079. The Plex Media Server app says it’s on 1.21.4.4079, but the Plex Media Server.log thinks it’s still on 1.14.1.5488 and the web app thinks I’m still on 1.14.1.5488. Any idea why the versions are mismatched? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the server, but I’m still having the same issu.

Nevermind. I figured it out. I needed to upgrade TOS. I’m good now.

Glad to hear you got it sorted

Curious as to how this is coming, as another (closed) thread from last year said the same, but did mention that TM had recently (last year) switched installer SDK’s.

As a new user to both TM and Plex, I only care about functionality and the ability to control the install environment.
If this means I have to install my own custom OS on the TM hardware, so be it. But I’d like to keep the Plex software up to date, not weeks or months behind.

Lastly, the above said, does anyone have any suggestions for the best OS for PMS?
UnRaid, Xpenology, older version of TOS?

Tips and advice welcome.

I wish this would get sorted. Terramaster placing blame on plex.for.not providing builds and nothing happening here. It too nearly 3 weeks to get the vulnerability fix and nothing since…

Terramaster are still dragging their heals over this. On the ARM devices we are on a version that is 3 months old now and they are claiming that they are ‘waiting for the package’. I just wish you two would sort this out…

hey guys please try this;

PMS 1.24.2 Alpha with support for manual install on TerraMaster

Sorry binned my terramaster for an older synology. The firmware and software updates were unreliable and bug ridden and froughr wirh danger everytime you upgraded
